I started drawing this and wasn’t sure about what it was going to be. A friend told me it looked like a kite. In the town where I’m from in Guatemala there is a contest every year and people come up with all kinds of things for kites and they are really big. Usually more than one person has to hold it because they’re so huge.

This is part of a project I started, called Poly Cinco Nation, to prove that we as humans have the ability to love our countries as well as one another— which we should all make the effort to do no matter what our flags look like. It’s all about bringing unity through art. Something sweet, like my little mushroom guy, can bring a smile to your face— and a protest to all of the negativity fueled by drug wars, oil wars, and human trafficking. These little mushrooms with their different flags originally started as a contest I put on through Tumblr, to see which country would get the most notes— and now you have the option to own it!
